Ex-Lindisfarne musician Steve Cunningham

HE forged a reputation with Tyneside band Lindisfarne – now Steve Cunningham is hoping to kick-start the careers of aspiring rock stars.

The bass player, who played with the Newcastle band between 1989 and 1994, has set up his own record label to inspire the future generation of talented musicians.

And he’s already signed up his first star in the form of Simma – whose real name is Anthony Simpson – to release his first track.

Steve’s BoomChang Records helped release Simma’s debut song, Happy New Year, which is about a party that was so good nobody wanted it to end.

Steve said: “Simma brings a great formula of words and music to the mix. I’m looking for more up-and-coming singer songwriters in the Tyneside, Northumberland and Durham areas.”

Simma is an accomplished singer-songwriter from Benwell who runs the Acoustic Circus at Tyneside Cinema.
Influenced by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Kinks and Lindisfarne’s Alan Hull, Simma’s album will be released in the New Year.
